EDSYN has truly lived up to its name: The Acronym EDSYN (Engineering Dedicated to Suit Your Needs) has developed a reputation within the electronics industry for quality, performance and outstanding customer service. The customer has always been at the center of the company’s activities and is often the driving force behind the creation of innovative products such as the TSX70. “When the customer has a problem, we keep looking until we come up with a solution that works” said Lori Fortune, Chief Executive. These comments are echoed by her father also founder and owner of EDSYN. He adds, “It is all about solving our customers’ problems.”
What started as a small family business in Bill Fortune’s garage fifty years ago is now a manufacturing facility located in Van Nuys, California with global distribution and subsidiaries in Europe. Bill’s story began in Los Angeles where as a technician; his job involved removing solder from various applications. Finding the techniques out-dated and time-consuming, he decided to find a solution for himself and his colleagues. The problem was solved with the creation of the Soldapullt aptly named by his wife Shirley. Fifty years on, and the Soldapullt is still one of EDSYN’s best sellers! The sentiment of this is shared by Lori who said that “one of my proudest moments in EDSYN’s history was walking home from school and Dad was setting up his first workshop, shortly after, the Soldapullt was born.”
EDSYN’s history is rich with achievements over the past 50 years. “The ability to innovate exciting new products, retaining manufacturing within the US and supporting the job market can be considered key achievements” said Bill Fortune. He continues, “My proudest moments to date include receiving the first patent on the desoldering tool issued November 1962 and in the 1980’s when EDSYN flew on two NASA Gateway Special programs.” R&D remains at the heart of the organization and will continue creating, innovating and thinking outside of the box for many more years to come. In keeping with the theme of the golden anniversary and celebrating the invention of the Soldapullt, EDSYN has produced limited edition versions of its world famous AS196 and SS350 Soldapullts in ESD Safe gold plating.
EDSYN will also be celebrating their milestone with a series of special events and promotions throughout the anniversary year including opportunities to visit the factory and explore the new R&D training facility. Details of all events will be posted on the website and announced through the company’s regular newsletters.
EDSYN continues to be a family run business. Juli Fortune, Bill’s youngest daughter manages the sales and marketing function of EDSYN, while Lori Fortune, the eldest daughter has successfully headed the company as CEO for the past year. When asked what the future holds she is resolute when she says “our goal is to keep improving. We believe that success belongs to a company that never gives up trying.”

The Chairman of Edsyn Incorporated announced that Craig Kowalski, President and CEO for the past 13 years has taken the decision to resign his position with effect from July 2nd 2010. Craig will be pursuing new opportunities but will continue to provide support for the Company through his new venture and everyone is looking forward to the benefits that this will bring to the organization.
A new CEO has been appointed effective immediately. Lori Fortune has been engaged in the role of Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for the past 14 years with EDSYN.
"She has strong leadership skills and is exactly what the organization needs at this time and during this fragile economy," states a member of the Executive Management Team. Lori has been instrumental in leading the financial and legal aspects of the company and is looking forward to the new challenge ahead and expanding her legal responsibilities within her new role as CEO.
"On behalf of EDSYN, I would like to thank Craig for his contribution to the Company and I wish him the same success in his new venture as he has brought to EDSYN," said Bill Fortune, Chairman and founder of the organization.

After 45 years of being a pure manufacturer of quality and cost efficient soldering and desoldering tools and accessories Edsyn Inc. is opening a brand new factory store on March 27th 2009.
